I rarely link to HuffPo as it's a lamer, less venomous version of Kos. This one, however Exclusive: Gutfeld's Review of An Inconvenient Truth is great. I say that because he agrees with me. I have no time for lectures from hypocrites. I hear daily from leftists how I need to do this or that to help the environment or what have you. That's bad enough from the guy who's an average joe like me. He drives to and from work like I do and cranks up the air conditioner and lives in a big house and feels morally superior to me because he recycles or drives a Honda instead of an SUV or minivan. This annoys me but pales in comparison to the lecturing we get from Barbara Streisand, Cameron Diaz and Gwenneth Paltrow. The people who live in mansions so big my house could fit in their living room and fly on private jets hither and yon are going to lecture me about my use of environmental resources? I don't think so. I used to work in New York City. My job was right on ...

I don't know if I've written about this before, but I probably have (I'm too lazy to read my own blog to find out and since nobody else is reading, it hardly matters). I am politically homeless. I used to like the GOP but they lost the script after the first Bush presidency. I'm not a Democrat because I think they're wrong about 90% of the time. I want a party that: Puts America and it's interests first on the national stage Thinks very carefully before giving any sort of foreign aid. Has a strong defense posture and aggressively hunts terrorists and topples any nation who supports terrorism. Reduces government spending every year Eliminates earmarks Agressively supports transparency Agressively defends private property Supports a term limit amendment for all members of Congress Wants to put up massive walls on both borders Wants to shift from income tax to consumption tax by repealing the 16th Amendment Wants to repeal the 17th Amendment Allow states to gov...

A load of hot air? Even the Beeb is backing away from Al Gore's brand of environmental alarmism. Listen to the whole story from the link on the right. My take: Environmental concerns are very important and need to be closely watched. The left makes too much of the problem and the right makes too little of it. Is mankind responsible for global warming? Maybe. Is it a major problem? No. The sun is hotter than it's ever been and is melting the polar ice on Mars. There are free market solutions to this. The government isn't going to do it. They are the largest polluter in the nation. If they can't police themselves, what good does it do if they go after me and you? Some environmentalists have figured out they can raise money to buy pollution credits and retire them. That guarantees no increase in polution (barring the creation of new credits of course). Exactly the type of solution I like to see and one that's fair to everybody.

Iraq How-to Manual Directed Arab Military Operatives In Afghanistan : "There are media reports of a group of Iraqi soldiers in Afghanistan. Jeffery Goldberg reported for The New Yorker in a February 2003 article entitled The CIA and Pentagon take another look at Al Qaeda and Iraq: 'In interviews with senior officials, the following picture emerged: American intelligence believes that Al Qaeda and Saddam reached a non-aggression agreement in 1993, and that the relationship deepened further in the mid-nineteen-nineties, when an Al Qaeda operative — a native-born Iraqi who goes by the name Abu Abdullah al-Iraqi — was dispatched by bin Laden to ask the Iraqis for help in poison-gas training. Al-Iraqi's mission was successful, and an unknown number of trainers from an Iraqi secret-police organization called Unit 999 were dispatched to camps in Afghanistan to instruct Al Qaeda terrorists.' Unit 999 might sound like it's straight out of a James Bond movie, but there are m...

Lady Liberty Trades In Some Trappings When I see pictures like this, I understand why anyone who's non-Christian gets very nervous. To me, this is a clear indication of what their ultimate plan is. They really, truly do want a theocratic state. Not one where God (whichever one you prefer) is simply allowed in the public square. No. The desire here is to make one Christian, Evangelical God the only seat and all others can convert or get out of the way. Evangelicals fail to realize that mixing God and religion results in the corruption of both religion and government. It has never been mixed successfully and never will. You cannot combine temporal power with spiritual power. If you do, any violation of the law is not just a civil or criminal problem but an offense against God. Apostasy. A very frightening proposition. Religion is an integral part of our society. It colors our perceptions of morality, ethics, and law. It's embedded in our language in culture inextric...

Consultant Breached FBI's Computers . I'm surprised they even noticed. They issued the story of huge "damages" as a way of insulating themselves if they go to trial. Without evidence of damages the charges are akin to tresspassing and will result in very little jail time if any. I understand this guy. He probably just got curious and it got him in trouble. It is tempting when you have the Keys To The Kingdom to look at things you're not supposed to. When I worked at The Very Big Investment Bank in Delaware I had access to everyone's salary and bonus numbers. Everyone. If I met someone I could go back to my desk and tell you everything about them. Where they went to school, what their performance ratings are, how much they made, if they were married, where they lived, etc. Initially, it's exciting to have access to so much forbidden knowledge and it can be tempting to see what your coworkers are making. (*note: I never looked anybody up. However...

Why am I furious at the NYT for their leaks of classified programs while others aren't? Read this . Leaks cost lives. They get people killed. The NYT and the left half of the country either doesn't realize this or doesn't care. The SWIFT monitoring program was and is legal and has layers of oversight. There was NO justification for publishing the details of the program. None. There was no bullshit "right to know" that the press is always harping about. What happens when intrepid blogger decides what the public has a "right to know" about Bill Keller and Arthur Sultzburger? Let's see how they like it when people are airing their secrets. I'll be they scream the loudest.

An online data base would monitor spending by Congress YES!!! The only thing that is going to curb corruption in Congress is transparency. Given these guys are very very good at hiding their own benefits in these bills. Ted Stevens and Dennis Hastert leap to mind. Both of them had either direct benefits or indirect benefits from big spending bills. Both of them went to great lengths to conceal that fact. Create transparency and at least make this more difficult. I know it's never going away but let's not make it easy.

North Korea has even reverted to naked theivery from China (of all places) to keep getting what they want. File under: The hand that feeds you; biting. Remember this when we're told we need to negotiate one on one with North Korea. They do not view negotiations like normal nations. They're more like muggers or thieves. They steal what they can and then go back to sabre rattling to increase any concessions.
