How? How can this be? Simply baffling.
Tony Blankley has the heads up on biomedical research and Roe v. Wade. File this one under "the law of unintended consequences". I don't have the same surity he does that the court will decided that any form of viability undermines Roe but I have little doubt the arguement will be made.
I was here over the weekend. Really amazing to be away from it all. No cell phone service, no TV, no interweb. I should do that more often.
I was looking forward to this show . Sadly, my fears appear to have been real. I'll watch it for myself to decide but I think I'll be cancelling my season pass on TiVo after tonight. We shall see.
Khaleej Times Online has more on that security wall. You know, the one that is visiting humiliations upon the non-residents with their checkpoints and such. Oh, the humanity. I wait with baited breath for International ANSWER and other assorted neo-Stalinists to denounce this wall and throw stones at the soldiers and the checkpoints in a show of solidarity. /sarcasm Try that at this wall and you'll be pushing up daisies.
All heed the wisdom of the Oompa Loompas! WonkaFacts! - Song Lyrics from the Film : "OOMPA LOOMPA DOOMPADEE DOO I'VE GOT ANOTHER PUZZLE FOR YOU OOMPA LOOMPA DOOMPADAH DEE IF YOU ARE WISE YOU'LL LISTEN TO ME WHAT DO YOU GET FROM A GLUT OF TV A PAIN IN THE NECK AND AN I.Q. OF THREE WHY DON'T YOU TRY SIMPLY READING A BOOK OR COULD YOU JUST NOT BEAR TO LOOK YOU'LL GET NO YOU'LL GET NO YOU'LL GET NO YOU'LL GET NO YOU'LL GET NO COMMERCIALS. OOMPA LOOMPA DOOMPADEE DAH IF YOU'RE NOT GREEDY YOU WILL GO FAR YOU WILL LIVE IN HAPPINESS TOO LIKE THE OOMPA OOMPA LOOMPA DOOMPADEE DO "
I have long been decrying the gross expansion of commercials in both news and entertainment programming. It's bad enough you have to endure them, but they keep increasing the frequency and duration. Much of this grumbling ended when I got TiVo. Now I skip the commercials and I can watch my show uninterrupted and get on with my life. David Kelley, of LA Law and The Practice fame is clamoring about the same thing: News : "Kelley said that when he worked on 'L.A. Law,' there were 48 minutes of show. That has been reduced over the years to a little more than 41 minutes." He proposes corporate sponsorship of the entire program which may allow them to increase showtime to a whopping 43 minutes. Please. Product placement is a far less obtrusive way to advertise with fewer commerical breaks. Fox has been at the forefront with Ford commercials built into both ALIAS and 24. They ran a short filmlet/commercial about the F-150 ahead of the season premiere last yea
More innocents could be shot: UK police - Breaking News - World - Breaking News : "On July 7 three trains and a bus in London killed 56 people - including the four suspected suicide bombers - and wounded 700." ARE YOU FRIGGIN' KIDDING ME! This is the absolute WORST case of blatant media bias I've ever seen. The entire editorial staff should be summarily flogged.
Speculation Alert! This one is highly speculative. I don't know what happened here but it does appear that there are CIA employees doing things they ought not to be doing. Conversely I had heard contemperaneous accounts that the embassy was bombed due to the type of bomb used. It seems the particular warhead was designed to home in on military grade communications arrays and the Chinese had just such an array on their roof. In retrospect, that's the one part of the operation I applauded most.
