The end of atheism.

Finally. Undeniable proof that exists and He does indeed love us.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Wishing I was here Listening to these guys Drinking one of these Things and people to think about today:

In the Presence of Mine Enemies

(With apologies to Mr. Ayers for the hyperbole) An event filled weekend. First of all, I did something that I rarely do. I went out for the evening. I'm something of a homebody largely because my job and my kids pretty much run me into the ground by the time the weekend rolls around. I do go out once in a while with friends or dinner with the wife but those are rather infrequent. On Saturday I was invited to a beer tasting. That's enough to get me motivated and out of the house for once. The twist here is that the host of said beer tasting was hosted by Don Viti (Yes I know I'm breaking my own rule but more on that in a moment). My trip to the Fever Swamp of Delaware Liberalism DV's house started with this guy bringing my trip to a halt. I saw the car in the woods and knew that whoever was in that car was in pretty bad shape. Good thing I don't believe in omens. I follow ever faithful Google Maps to find the house and turn into the driveway. I park ...

Mystery Solved!

Previously on This Is Very Strange , I had received a very desirable gift from person or persons unknown. After much ado, I've finally found out who sent it. I was correct that is was one of the four people who knew me enough to send it, my brother. He travels a lot for business so I hadn't spoken to him in ages. Seems he was trolling eBay for another unrelated item and sent it to me on a lark. For that I am eternally grateful. Moreover b/c I finally know who sent the damn thing.

This is very strange...

I'm an average guy with an average life. I have a few more kids than most but for the most part I'm just an anonymous lumpenprole toiling away in obscurity both professionally and on this blog. To say my life follows a certain routine is like saying " The Hindenburg caught fire." That is to say, technically accurate but wildly understates the truth. In any event, I just received a call from The Wife. To wit: "Did you order something?" "No, why?" "There's something here for you." "Uh, box, bag, envelope, singing telegram?" "It's a box" "Who's is from?" "It's from [Name redacted pending confession or further investigation]" "Who?" "(repeats name)" "No idea. Never heard of him." A quick google search later I find that the sender's return address is in the wilds of northern Pennsylvania. A place I have never visited. "Open it." "W...

The Perfect Pour, DIY Style

Heineken Minikeg: The Perfect Pour, DIY Style - Popular Mechanics Having sampled a number of Minikegs from D.A.B. , Heineken , and Warsteiner , I can attest to them going flat and being a really pour poor keg. They're essentially just really big cans with either a gravity feed or forced air pump. Not good. This new system appears far more promising. Now if only we could put something better in those minikegs like this , this or this . Sadly, I'm guessing the cost of production is going to keep this confined to larger (read: crappy) brewers. I hope I'm wrong

Six vintages of Thomas Hardy’s

Six vintages of Thomas Hardy’s I am in possession of 8 vintages of Thomas Hardy's. They include: 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002. They do, as noted above, vary wildly in taste, color and quality. I don't have any tasting notes in front of me but one thing is consistent they are very dark, very malty and high in alcohol content. If you're a beer nerd like I am, get them, they're well worth the effort it takes to find them.
