I'm surprised at the speed with which the MSM has picked up the Million Little Pieces scandal. So far, it doesn't look good for Frey. He seems peeved by the whole thing like the story is what matters more than anything. To me, the whole things smacks of the "fake but accurate" line that we've heard before. Here's one take on how this can happen . FWIW, I had the same feeling about Swoffords book when I read it. Some of it was simply too outlandish to be considered real. Other stories he mentions are military urban legends that have been circulating for years. I didn't Jarhead but it was well written. I don't think I'll be reading Frey's book.
The Prejudice Map . Simply brilliant. Some odd results too.
What a Tangled Web We Weave is PJ O'Rourke's review of Wonkette's novel. He completely pans it but tries to say nice things about her in the process. Essentially, he things she's written below her abilities. I don't have much of an interest in her book when there are so many others I've yet to read. Hell, I even have some of PJ's books that I have to read.
I read things like this and I can't imagine them being true. This guy went to a lawyer and complained about what exactly? Getting over-promoted? Why can't he just get the training he needs to become competant. Did he walk into his lawyers office and say: "I have a problem. I'm overpaid, I've been promoted to a position I'm not qualified for so I want to sue the pants off them." The lawyer decides he has a case and off they go. Simply amazing.
