Daniel Pipes talks about Weak Brits, Tough French. He rightly points out that France is able to get away with things that no other country can do. How? I don't know. Perhaps it's because they are France and people assign to them some patina of respectablity because of their mythically great history of diplomacy. I like the French people. I've lived there, gone to school there and travelled there a number of times. However, they always elect the most wiley cagey, backstabbing, self-serving bastards. I wish we had elected leaders who were as nakedly advancing their own nation's interests. Hell, Bush is a piker compared to Chirac on that front. Even Pat Buchannan pales in comparison.
