Something just occured to me...

After 9/11 I heard a lot from lefties about how we should not be angry but rather, ask ourselves, "why do they hate us?"

Why are not the opponents of Prop 8 in California doing any similar sort of soul searching? Instead they are protesting, threatening (and worse) the people who *ahem* "attacked" them.

I'm just askin.

These people are over the top.

What I find interesting is that according to exit polls, 7 out of 10 African-Americans voted for Prop 8, at the same time voting for Obama. What is sorely lacking is the liberal left's analysis of this.

How could those who voted for "The One", at the same time vote against gay marriage? Quite a dichotomy, and doesn't fit neatly into the Kosmonut mantra. I think that they are struggling for an explanation... it is something they will have to reconcile with.

I think it is a matter of "be careful what you wish for".

I think it shows that voters are not monolithic. A great many places will vote straight D for national elections but R's for local and vice versa. It also shows that AA voters are much more socially conservative on that front than white liberals.
Yup, AA voters are politically liberal, but socially conservative. Probably because the church is still a strong social institution in the AA community.

But the "No on 8" advocates are going crazy. The advocates seem to be trying to escalate the situation into a fight between religious and homosexual groups. That isn't a fight they can win, politically, socially, and most of all physically.

I think it was Jonah Goldberg who asked, "Why are liberals so intent on starting a culture war? Don't they realize we're the side with all the guns?"

But when even California overturns an existing law that come couples are already "married" under, they need to realize numbers aren't on their side. (Does anyone know what happens to those couples now under the new law, assuming, for the sake of argument, the amendment isn't overturned?)

Agreed. It didn't pass, and they owe it to the liberal illuminati, who they threw their support behind, who voted against it.
