Foreign Policy Experience

Presumably they vetted this guy. Even after doing so, they thought he as a good pick. I can't imagine that the other choices were worse:

Rhetorical Question: "'Seems to me this would be a good time to send, no strings attached, a check for $200 million to Iran,' Biden declares. He surveys the table with raised eyebrows, a How do ya like that? look on his face.

The staffers sit in silence. Finally somebody ventures a response: 'I think they'd send it back.' Then another aide speaks up delicately: 'The thing I would worry about is that it would almost look like a publicity stunt.' Still another reminds Biden that an Iranian delegation is in Moscow that very day to discuss a $300 million arms deal with Vladimir Putin that the United States has strongly condemned. But Joe Biden is barely listening anymore. He's already moved on to something else."

This is making the rounds and rightly so. Joe is not stupid. I've heard him speak on matters of foreign policy. The problem is that he doesn't reign himself in. He decides something and it's forever cast in stone. Exactly what W's critics have been complaining about for 8 years. How is this "change"? Can you imagine if he had been on TV 3 weeks after the WTC attacks and proposed sending a gift of $200 million to a nation on the list of terrorism sponsors? Absolute lunacy.

Biden was the greatest gift Obama could give McCain. I believe the race is now McCain's to lose. The only way he can kill his chances is by picking Romney for VP. The Democrat convention is shaping up to be milquetoast. Michelle Obama's professions of love for country ring hollow and even sound forced. She's a good speaker but you can tell they reigned her in. She wants to thunder from the podium full of piss and vinegar but can't. It won't play well. It isn't over yet but they better right that ship if they expect to get a bounce from the convention.
