One of the lynchpins of the 9/11 tinfoil hat crowd is that fire doesn't melt steel. Jet fuel couldn't possibly have weakened the curtain wall or structural steel of the Towers. Fire doesn't melt steel. Except when it does.

Rudy took a some brick bats for comments that we'd be on the defensive if a Democrat is elected president in '08. Democrats predictably whined and then proved him right. Liberals don't like military action unless it is seen to be for altrustic reasons and no US interests are involved. Even then, it has to be very limited engagement. If we can lob some cruise missles from offshore all the better. They'd rather spend their time on domestic policy especially the kind that lets them spend other people's money. Conservatives don't shirk from war but don't like domestic matters because it often requires spending other people's money and dealing with social behaviors that they believe are best left to social pressures.

The headline screams: "No Mercy for the Taliban". Well, no. It is a war you see. The Taliban aren't particularly big on mercy either.
