Democrats Split Over Iraq Plan Details

BREITBART.COM - Democrats Split Over Iraq Plan Details

Democrats' ambitious plans to limit President Bush's war authority and force a change of course in Iraq are faltering amid party divisions over how quickly and aggressively they should shoot themselves in the foot act.

Some of the members realize they were only placating the moonbats with talks of getting out of Iraq. Now that they're safely ensconced in office, they need not worry what the lumpenproles want.

A group of senior Senate Democrats is pushing to repeal the 2002 measure authorizing the war and write a new resolution restricting the mission and ordering troop withdrawals to begin by this summer. In the House, a respected veteran wants to use Congress' spending power to essentially force Bush to scale back U.S. involvement in Iraq.

Rescinding the order is like taking back sex after the baby's been born. Just don't work that way. Note also the "respected veteran" line. They better not be talking about Murtha.

Here's the best part:

Both plans appear to lack the support they would need to prevail, however, as Democratic leaders struggle to form a party consensus on how to move forward.

They can't even get their own in line and they expect this thing to pass? How the hell are they going to get anything done at all? This was supposed to be the central and uniting issue for Defeatocrats.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said he wants to put off votes on the new, narrower war authorization so the Senate can turn to a measure enacting the recommendations of the bipartisan 9/11 commission.

Translation: Don't kill our chances in 2008 now you rubes! Wait until we win that one and then we can quit.

Democrats are eager to pass the 9/11 measure _ one of a handful they promised to push through once in power to grow the size of government to unprecidented size and add countless layers of career Democrat bureaucrats to show they can govern.
Family members of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks are leaning on senators to leave the bill free of extraneous items that could bog it down.

Said family members must be totally unfamiliar with the Democrat party who have remained in power for decades by bogging down bills with spending unrelated to the purpose of the main bill.

"Iraq is going to be there _ it's just a question of when we get back to it," Reid said, predicting it would be "days, not weeks" before the Senate returned to the issue.

Translation: Perhaps if we ignore this long enough Dimbulb Nancy will realize what a major problem this is for us.

The developments on both sides of the Capitol reflected disarray in Democratic ranks on Iraq. Swept into power by voters clamoring for an end to the war, Democrats have seen their efforts stymied under realities more complicated than they found on the campaign trail.

That, my friends, is the most perfect and precise explanation of why Democrats should be voted out of office.

Key quote:

"We're doing the very best we can," Reid said. "Iraq is here. It's not going to go away."

Translation: "I know we have to fight the war in Iraq. Despite all the posturing, I'll make sure we don't quit the fight. If we do, we can forget about the White House for the next 16 years or so."

"The public is saying, 'We hired you to get out of Iraq _ now figure it out,'" said Tom Matzzie, Washington director of the anti-war group MoveOn.org. "There is a risk that without action, frustration boils over into anger."

Translation: "We hired you to quit now and you lied to us! I can't believe it, I'm such a fool!"

Democrats argue that their failed efforts to thwart Bush's war plans will ultimately pay off by ratcheting up pressure for a change.

"These aren't the 'droids you're looking for." Best attempt at the Jedi Mind Trick I've seen in a long long time. A for Effort!

"The administration is increasingly isolated and they are increasingly at odds with where the American people are," said Jim Manley, a Reid spokesman. "We're going to keep on going at it until the administration changes course."

Translation: We're in a bind. Anything we do gets us in trouble. We placate the moonbats and we are in serious trouble with the average voter. Placate the average voter and moonbats go nuts. Our only hope is to do nothing and continue to blame Bush for everything and hope that still works.
