USSC upholds voter ID law

The Volokh Conspiracy points to a USSC decision that vacates the 9th Circuit (yay!) decision that struck down the requirement of a picture ID for voting. That means, any state that passes a similar law will not even be challenged in court. I've been told that supporting such a measure is "racist" and unfair to poor people. Personally, I fail to see how anyone can get anything done w/o a picture ID. Would critics make the same complaint against Blockbuster Video or your local beer store?
