Is There Any Hope for the Pope?. More Popeblogging. Yes, yes, I'm late to the game but what can I say? I've been busy. Anywayyyy.....I've never had a nice word for Counterpunch (which I won't link to again) as I think it is a den of moonbattery, idiotarians and ANSWER types for whom I have nothing but loathing. Which is why I found the above article so shocking. Not only was it about the Pope, but it was positive. What is going on? The BBC and Counterpunch both with positive article about the RCC? I swear I think I've awoken in some Bearded Spock universe.

He's been so brazen with his porkbarreling and the whiff of corruption around him has been ripe enough to smell from here. I'd rather have a 100% democrat run Congress if they were ethical. Term limits. One term for Senate, two for the House, one for the President. Some fear that would increase the power of lobbyists. Simple, ban any former members from being lobbyists and limit lobbyists to terms as well. (I'm not sure how that would work. Just a thought.) The other answer is transparency. No earmarks without a floor vote. No spending of any kind without a floor vote. All spending committees (intelligence aside) open to the public and recorded and available on the web.

The false dichotomy of Ukraine or Russia

 Its very strange to me to see some sort of weird binary set up where you have to be either Pro Ukraine or Pro Russia.  You are perceived as either Pro Nazi or Pro Putin/Pro Invasion depending on what your detractors think of you.  Frankly, I'm not sure where I land on this one.  The Nazi thing is more complicated than people realize.  I've read something online (which means it must be true?) that the Nazi imagery goes back to WWII era when the Soviets were very enthusiastically killing Ukrainians and the Nazis were actually stopping them from doing so.  Ukrainians decided to join the Nazis to stop the slaughter.  So it may be this is not really about racial purity or Nazism per se but about countering Soviet aggression.  Is this true?  I don't know but it's possible.   On the other side you have Russians who think the Ukrainians are indeed Nazis and therefore dangerous and need clearing out or this is a convenient fig leaf for re-e...
