I'm probably one of maybe 6 Formula 1 fans in the US. I don't watch the races live b/c they're usually run from far flung reaches of different time zones so I'm usually sleeping when they're happening. No problem, I have Tivo. I'm watching the Malaysian Grand Prix the other day and stepped away to referee the latest impromtu Ultimate Toddler Fighting Championship (part MCMXLVII in a seemingly endless series). I come back and the announcer is polling the audience asking; "If Kimi Raikkonen hadn't retired, where would he have finished today?" My jaw dropped. RETIRED!? Why would he retire? WTF? He's one of the top drivers in the world. I could only surmise he was injured. I rewind and see what I missed. He crashed on the opening lap. The announcer meant retired for the day! Shaw was correct, the Americans and Brits are two people divided by a common language.

Anyway let me assure you there are more than six F1 fans in the US, 60% of my site's(Formula One Season 2006) traffic comes from the US who search for Formula One.

I've been holding off on commenting on the imbroiglio over a posting at DelawareLiberal for Veteran's Day for several reasons. First and foremost is the situation at home (more on that later) but also because I wanted to get some distance from it to be sure I was seeing things clearly. I'm an average guy with an average life. I have a few more kids than most but for the most part I'm just an anonymous lumpenprole toiling away in obscurity both professionally and on this blog. To say my life follows a certain routine is like saying " The Hindenburg caught fire." That is to say, technically accurate but wildly understates the truth. In any event, I just received a call from The Wife. To wit: "Did you order something?" "No, why?" "There's something here for you." "Uh, box, bag, envelope, singing telegram?" "It's a box" "Who's is from?" "It's from [Name redacted pending confession or further investigation]" "Who?" "(repeats name)" "No idea. Never heard of him." Brief update

 Ok, so I'm going to try writing again as an attempt to hash out some things that I think about but haven't given enough effort to untangle.  This is largely based on conversations I have with a left wing person whom I greatly respect and has been good enough to challenge me and my ideas in a most respectful manner.  I find that in our conversations I'm falling short of what I want to say in a coherent manner.  Perhaps I can do that here.   Here's hoping
