DC gun ban unconstitutional

How Appealing has the full story. This may be the only thing to get DC off the list of cities with the highest murder rate.

Iraq war Intelligence

Pat Dollard has a video up showing various opinions before the war. This is not new ground and the anti-Bush/anti-war crowd will complain they were all bamboozled by Bush The Moron and the fake intelligence. Never mind that he was looking at the same intel they were. Never mind that if they're duped by someone so galactially stupid it can only mean they are dumber... OK, I just can't beat this dead horse again.

Fire Gonzales

I am in lockstep with Don Surber. Fire Gonzales . Now. Bush hasn't fired anyone for any reason (don't count Rummy, he quit). The man is loyal to a fault. Gonzales initially seemed like a good pick but he's way way too in love with executive power. Beyond what is healthy for democracy.

Newt the Nonstarter

Right Wing Nut House talks about Newt's peccadillos and Michelle Malkin talks about his rating and hypocrisy. I love Newt. I think he's brilliant, eloquent and he could have been president. Now, however, as Johnny Fontaine said, "There's no chance, just no chance." Newt blew it on several fronts. Each of them alone makes him the darkest of dark horses. The bounced checks, the extramarital affair, the hissy fit on Air Force One, government shutdown etc. His negatives are so high I can only believe that he's running for some cabinet level position. There's no way he actually believes he's going to get the nomination let alone the presidency. Even Hillary can beat him. He will add some vigor to an otherwise dull primary. He will also be a bullet sponge for attacks from the left on the candidates on the right. The sins of the other candidates pale in comparison (with perhaps a few exceptions). I promised myself I wouldn't start talking abou

Trying Too Hard?

This guy can't be serious. Someone please tell me this isn't serious.

An Actual Bush Scandal

Lawmaker's Intervention in Law Enforcement Crosses Line He's dead right. This one ought to be front page, above the fold lead story. I have no patience for political abuse via courts. I hated the Independent Counsel statute when they used it as a club against Republicans and it made me queasy when they did it under Clinton. In every case it started as one thing and went on and on and mutated into a beast that was determined to find something . This is a bit different but in the same vein. They're sacking US Attourneys for not filing charges against Democrats before the election. That is thuggery. Let the heads roll.

I gotta say...

The man has good taste.

Definitive 200 - reviewed.

Definitive 200 1. BEATLES – SGT. PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND Spare me. The Beatles were very influential but I'm so sick of them I can't listen to them for at least another 10 years. 2. PINK FLOYD – DARK SIDE OF THE MOON A good album hijacked by every stoner from here to Timbuktu. Ownership of said album increases likelihood you'll be sitting a dimly lit room solving the worlds problems with some dirty hippy by 500% 3. MICHAEL JACKSON – THRILLER Nope. Sorry, can't do it. Won't put a dime in the man's pocket. He's talented and a great entertainer but he's a pederast and that trumps everything. 4. LED ZEPPELIN – LED ZEPPELIN IV See comment #1. 5. U2 – JOSHUA TREE Yes. Absolutely. Could listen to this every day. 6. ROLLING STONES – EXILE ON MAIN STREET Again yes. The ban has recently been lifted on the Stones for reasons cited in comment #1. However, no Stones songs after 1986 are permitted. 7. CAROLE KING – TAPESTRY I ha

Organic food 'can add to allergies'

Organic food 'can add to allergies' . Great. More good news. Kinda puts the kibosh on the whole thing for me.

Woman Who Woke Up After 6 Years Relapses

Woman Who Woke Up After 6 Years Relapses Note they compare her to Terri Schiavo whom we were told would never ever improve. Remember this case when you're told a loved one is in a "Persistent" Vegitative state. Living wills are advisable. I've got one and made my wishes abundantly clear to everyone in my family.

John Popper, Rock Star

John Popper arrested in Washington . Read on. He's my hero. Seriously, I wish I was rolling that heavy.

Underwater Wind Turbines

Underwater Wind Turbines Make Rivers Renewable I suppose calling them "wind" turbines is a bit off but the point stands. The current of a river (Especially those not prone to flow changes due to weather) are an excellent source of consistent power. Next stop, Brandywine River!

License To Lie

Not All Sources Are Equal The Press wants it both ways. They want to be able to shield their sources and be immune from defamation suits. Combine those and you'll get exactly what the author states; imagined sources that can be protected forever so there is no accountability. I could create a source I have called "Senior Administration Official" and have him/her tell me that Hillary Clinton is a Satan worshipping child murderer. I could then say I will not reveal my source and you can't prosecute me. News would never be reliable and defamation suits would go exactly nowhere. The more optimistic of you would note that the end result of such an environment might actually be better because any story without named sources would be discounted by large segments of the population. A view I don't share.

There's no pleasing some people

It Doesn't Matter If Hillary Apologizes for Her Iraq War Vote Bottom line: For the truly rabid partisan nutroots. Will they hold their nose and vote for her? Probably not.

Update on the missing general

Former Iranian Defense Official Talks to Western Intelligence I'm still skeptical on this one. I hope its true but it may not be. If he is, indeed, talking he very likely knows where the crown jewels are. It's as if Douglas Feith defected. We'd be in full panic mode. Either way the Three Letter Agencies are watching Iran's response very closely to see what sort of SIGINT , ELINT , and IMINT stirs up after the announcement. How and where they move things will be very telling. As will the level of chatter we pick up. Given that we're meeting with Iran soon . This might change the landscape considerably. Too early to tell.

Get Healthy or get fired

Get Healthy—Or Else I understand the pressure to keep your employees healthy is good for everybody but there is a slippery slope here. I support the idea of rewarding those who work out with either cheaper benefits or subsidized gym memberships (or both). I do not, however, want HR calling me and asking me how many times I worked out and telling me I'm fat. I've been on the receiving end of corporate programs before and I doubt they'd do it very well. h/t: Evil HR Lady

Feds Seek To Gag D.C. Madam

Feds Seek To Gag D.C. Madam Seems very unusual to me that the Prosecutor would make this move. There must be some big names on that list. I think the list will be very revealing and I'd be surprised if Larry Flint isn't at least thinking about it.

Quote of the day #2

The Corner on National Review Online “Opposing the deportation of Jews had not been a matter of major national interest.” Oh, so then it's OK I guess. It's only important or necessary to oppose the wholesale slaughter of an entire group of people if its a matter of major national interest.

DRUDGE REPORT FLASH 2007®

In the letter, PETA points out the following: · The effect that our meat addiction is having on the climate is truly staggering. In fact, in its recent report “Livestock’s Long Shadow—Environmental Issues and Options,” the United Nations determined that raising animals for food generates more greenhouse gases than all the cars and trucks in the world combined. · Researchers at the University of Chicago have determined that switching to a vegan diet is more effective in countering global warming than switching from a standard American car to a Toyota Prius. I don't want to hear anything from any one of you environmentalist types if you're still eating meat or wearing leather and wool. Not. One. Thing.

How NYC Are You?

Image
You Are 76% NYC You are probably a real New Yorker, though there's a good chance you really live on Long Island. How NYC Are You? h/t: Miriam . I too, used to be more NYC but I've been away for quite some time now. I still miss it sometimes.

Daily Roundup

ScienceDaily: Earth's Crust Missing In Mid-Atlantic . Police interviewing wealthy crust collectors for leads. No, seriously, this is big news. The Marianas Trench is technically deeper due to the bulge of the Earth. That's not the important part. The key is that we're being given access to the mantle which is a great opportunity for geologists. The demise of the iron clad agreement of man made global warming as fact, continues apace: over 17,000 scientists declare that global warming is a lie with no scientific basis whatsoever. The global warming hypothesis has failed every relevant experimental test. It lives on only in the dreams of anti-technologists and population reduction advocates. The United States is very close to adopting an international agreement that would ration the use of energy and of technologies that depend upon coal, oil, and natural gas and some other organic compounds. This (Kyoto) treaty is, in our opinion, based upon flawed ideas. Research da
