Your Score : Saffron You scored 75% intoxication, 25% hotness, 75% complexity, and 25% craziness! You are Saffron! Those other spices have nothing on you! You're warm, smart, and you make people feel really good (and with no side-effects!). You can be difficult to get to know and require a lot of those who try, but you're so totally worth it. *Sigh* Link: The Which Spice Are You Test written by jodiesattva on OkCupid Free Online Dating , home of the The Dating Persona Test h/t: Miriam

Quote of the Day

"Libertarians spend as much time dreaming about the end of the drug war, a return to the gold standard, and the death of the income tax as Republicans fantasize about prayer in public schools and no abortions and Democrats covet socialized medicine and a minimum wage of $42/hour."

Tickets, please.

This one always bothered me. One of the best things about growing up where I did was that every act (major or minor) played nearby. With a zillion venues to fill, there was a great concert nearly every weekend. The meager earnings of my crappy high school job forced me to be selective. I had to pick and choose which ones to attend. Even then, I was intent on getting the best seat possible. That meant one of two things. You had to be first on line at the nearest Ticketmaster booth or you had to go to a scalper. I very very rarely went for the latter option it was just too expensive. I was able to get some really good tickets on occasion but mostly I was relegated to the nosebleed sections. As I got older, the scalpers would eat up more and more blocks of tickets with rapidity that all be forced you buy from them. Either that or start your own band and you might be allowed in to your own show. Now its getting worse. Small wonder that the thieves scalpers have figured out a wa...

IF YOU ARE A DEMOCRAT YOU MUST BELIEVE: Believe that Jesus loves you and shares your hatred of rich people and George W. Bush. Believe removing Slobodan Milošević was a national security priority President Clinton needed a “get my impeachment off the front page” diversion. Believe that the US should kowtow the U.N. no matter how much their interests conflict with ours. Poorly Chosen URL's

Here is a list of real web sites with horribly bad chosen URLs: * An agency named “Who Represents” can tell you the name of the agent representing a celebrity. Their website is www.whorepresents.com. * Experts Exchange is a knowledge base for programmers maintained by programmers to help each other. Their website is www.expertsexchange.com. * Want to buy a pen? Pen Island is the place to go. Go to website www.penisland.net. * Looking for a therapist? Try www.therapistfinder.com. *Looking for the Italian Power Generator company? They are at www.powergenitalia.com. *If you want to find the Mole Station Native Nursery (they grow flowers): Look at www.molestationnursery.com. * In retrospect, being the First Cumming Methodist Church, and picking a URL of www.CummingFirst.com was probably a poor choice. *If you need an art designer, you can find one at Speed Of Art. Their URL is www.speedofart.com. h/t: random email

Quote of the Day

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth a war, is much worse...A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. As long as justice and injustice have not terminated their ever-renewing fight for ascendancy in the affairs of mankind, human beings must be willing, when need is, to do battle for the one against the other." John Stuart Mill "The Contest in America," Fraser’s Magazine (February 1862)

Why Friday Was Horrible

I'll start off by saying that my son doesn't do well in the car. By "doesn't do well" I mean, he will frequently hit or kick anyone within reach for the duration of the trip. That little nugget lets you know why we don't travel to the midwest to visit my family. As I am not http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croesus, I am not going to fly 6 people there. As I am not certifiably insane, I'm not driving there either. On Friday, I took my eldest son to see a behavioral specialist in Baltimore. That's an hour plus in nice weather. Add freezing rain and it's even longer. For added fun, we were about 20 minutes late in leaving which put the pressure on to get there with all possible speed. Oh, and did I mention that half an hour into our journey I realized we didn't bring his mid day dose of his medication (the one that keeps him balanced)? No, well, throw that into the mix too. Gas? Meet Fire. We've been working with his teachers and thera...

SURE! LET'S LET EVERYONE ASSEMBLE!

I see that the National Right to Assemble is at it again; proving once more that, N R A stands of Non-Rational A*******. Most of us know that NRA types love their meetings, because it’s a substitute for caressing their having friends. They are literally circle jerk-offs. They are trying to destroy the country’s sensible crowd control laws, probably because they want to play out their John Wayne hero fantasies. Apprarently, according to the N R A, if you don’t have a felony record, you are automatically an upstanding citizen, and all you need is a little training in the mechanics of crowd control, coupled with a few hours of megaphone instruction, and, you can be cut loose on humanity with a loudspeaker at you side. I got news for the N R A, and, any other idiot who thinks that more megaphones in the home or, on the street are necessary. You will soon discover that it will cause many more horrible problems than it will solve. Not having a felony record doesn’t mean a person has not comm...
